Promises MADE - Promises KEPT

Hunter Holliday keeps his word. As your Salem City Council member, he has backed law enforcement, worked on smarter budgeting, and stronger support for our local businesses. From listening to neighbors at first ever town halls to turning community priorities into action, Hunter has proven that promises made are promises kept.

Re-elect Hunter Holliday to continue the steady, common-sense leadership that puts Salem families first.

★PROMISES MADE

✓PROMISES KEPT

★ Lower Taxes

✓ Lowered the real estate tax rate by 4 cents — from 1.22 to 1.18

✓ Voted against the across‑the‑board 1% sales tax increase

Hunter Holliday fought to keep more money in Salem families’ pockets. As your city council representative, Hunter supports responsible budgeting that reduces burdens on homeowners and opposes broad tax hikes that hit working families and small businesses.

★ Improve Infrastructure

✓ Pomeroy Road Sewer Improvements / Mason Creek Interceptor Upgrades: The initial phase of this project is underway, with completion scheduled for September 2027.

✓ Middleton Gardens Upper Roanoke River/Sewer Find and Fix Project: Work is beginning at the West Main Interceptor to address inflow and infiltration entering upstream of Longview Road

Investing in sewer improvements means cleaner streets, healthier neighborhoods, and fewer costly emergency repairs. By upgrading aging pipes, modernizing pump stations, and improving stormwater management, we reduce backups, prevent pollution, and protect our property values. These targeted projects will minimize disruptions with smart scheduling, use durable materials to save taxpayer dollars over time, and create local jobs during construction. Supporting thoughtful sewer improvements today keeps Salem safe, resilient, and ready for growth tomorrow.

★ Support Law Enforcement

✓ Raised police officer salaries, making Salem the highest paid in the Roanoke Valley.

✓ Provided take-home vehicles to officers living in Salem and those on the ERT.

Supporting our law enforcement means standing with the men and women who keep Salem safe every day. I believe in giving our officers the training, equipment, and community partnerships they need to protect neighborhoods, reduce crime, and build trust with residents. That includes investing in de-escalation and mental health training, ensuring fair pay and benefits to retain experienced personnel, and promoting community policing so officers and citizens work together toward safer streets.

When we support law enforcement responsibly, we foster public safety, protect civil liberties, and strengthen the bonds that make our city resilient. I’m committed to policies that respect officers, uphold accountability, and prioritize prevention — keeping Salem a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

★ Improve Transparency in City Government

✓ Became the first City Councilman in Salem's history to hold monthly town hall meetings.

✓ Started "Coffee With Council" in July 2025 to provide an informal forum for citizens to discuss important community issues.

✓Established live streaming of Salem City Council meetings in August 2026.

Transparency is how we build trust, accountability, and stronger community partnerships. When city decisions, budgets, and processes are open and easy to understand, Salem residents can see how priorities are set, resources are spent, and results are measured. I will push for clear, timely communication, accessible public records, and decision-making that invites resident input—so every neighbor knows what’s happening, why it matters, and how to get involved. Transparency isn’t optional; it’s the foundation of good government.
